Studying at Ngee Ann Polytechnic has equipped me with numerous skills and knowledge that will be useful in the future. I have set realistic goals to achieve academically and in other aspects of life.

Child Development 1 & 2
Through these modules, I gained a better understanding of how children grow and develop holistically. By learning the different methods of observation records such as anecdotal records, checklists, and running records, I was able to understand that each child is unique in their development journey.

Discovery Of the World
In this module, I learnt how to use the Constructivist approach to teaching which emphasizes the importance of hands-on learning and active exploration. We also learnt how to create developmentally and culturally appropriate learning experiences for children.

Children Literature - Elective
In this module, we explored various children's books and how educators could effectively incorporate literature into preschool education. We also had the opportunity to appreciate and critique various genres of children's books where we selected age-appropriate books for young children.

Family and Community Partnership
Through this module, I learnt about the various family structures and dynamics in Singapore and gained effective communication skills needed when communicating with families. We also explored Joyce Epstein's Model of Family Involvement and utilized suitable community resources to support children's social and emotional well-being.

Studying at ITE has helped shape me into the educator I am now. ITE provided me with ample opportunities to lead, plan, and execute community partnerships, fostering my skills and confidence when dealing with young children and their families.

Learning Environments
In this module, I learnt the importance of indoor and outdoor classroom layouts to create an effective and inclusive learning environment for children to develop holistically. We had the opportunity to create and design learning corners that cater to the needs of the diverse needs and interests of children.

The Aesthetics Curriculum
Through this module, I was introduced to a variety of art techniques such as cotton bud printing, leaf blotting, crayon etching, and bubble painting, as well as 2D and 3D Art and performance arts. All these methods are suitable for teaching children to allow them to explore their creativity and express themselves artistically.

The Discovery Curriculum
This module has broadened my knowledge of how to teach early numeracy, conduct simple investigations, and engage children in cookery activities. I learnt the importance of setting up themes and learning goals throughout the year to create a structured yet engaging environment for young children.

Planning and Organising Children's Events and Functions
This module involved drafting a detailed proposal for a school partnership with a preschool centre during Covid-19 to engage them with activities through a virtual platform called Zoom. This module made me realize how much I enjoy engaging with children and putting smiles on their faces even through an online platform.
